LAFDI market report - Friday 11th September

The Liberum AltFi Financial Disruptors gave back some of the recent relative gains that it has made against global equities – underperforming this week by 1.13%.

Earthport PLC had a strong week on no obvious new news. Back in August the open global bank payment network revealed an enhancement of its global gateway to enable real-time cross-border payments via distributed ledger protocol.  The shares have been strong ever since and put on an impressive 12% in the last week. 

Stonegate Mortgage Corp built further on the strong gains of last week after the company had announced a series of management changes.  It appears that the market continues to interpret the changes as leading to a possible change of ownership. 

Meanwhile the malaise at Monitise Plc continues.  After a string of revenue warnings, which have prompted the company to make a change in strategy, the company has now announced the departure of chief executive Elizabeth Buse.  Ms Buse had taken sole charge of the company in March, after Alastair Lukies, founder and then co-chief executive, left his position following a strategic review.  Lee Cameron, deputy chief executive and chief commercial officer, has been appointed chief executive, effective immediately. The company is switching to a subscription-based model, targeting resources on a single mobile money platform that all banks could use instead of relying on licence fees won by providing customised services to financial institutions.
