The Liberum AltFi Volume Index UK had its second largest month of 2015 with £245m lent in September. The surge in loan transactions comes as a result of various flourishing sectors within the UK Alternative Finance arena, particularly as peer to peer consumer lending, invoice financing and equity crowdfunding – which each posted a record month of financing.
The top 3 UK marketplace lending platforms by “last 3 month market share” each enjoyed a record month, contributing a substantial 65% of September’s volume. The sharp increase in volume in September also steered the index to a record quarter of loan origination with 11% growth from the previous quarter.
October has thus far provided several landmark moments for RateSetter as the platform celebrated 5 years of successful lending operations and its passing of the £800m mark in cumulative loan origination. To add further context to the platform’s strong growth, RateSetter topped £360m in cumulative loan financing after four years of lending, and the platform has suggested that it expects to top £500m of lending in 2015.
