Wombat Invest, a share trading app that raised over £260,000 earlier this year, has launched on the App Store today.

Wombat offers a low-cost trading alternative to traditional stockbrokers, letting customers invest their first £1,000 fee-free, before charging £1 + 0.45% on customers investing £1,000+.

The app’s key differentiator is its portfolio of 15 theme-based ETF portfolios like The British Bulldog (top UK companies including Burberry and Rolls Royce), The Robo (including HTC and Huawei), and Social Media Guru (including Facebook and Google/Alphabet).

“At Wombat, we strongly believe that the best way to approach investing is to back companies that you know, love and can identify with,” said co-founder and CEO Kane Harrison.

“By putting together a wide range of portfolios that should suit nearly every lifestyle, set of beliefs and interests, we believe we have handed power back to a new generation of investors.”

Wombat also includes features like auto-investing a certain amount every month and rounding-up spare change into your portfolio.

From its crowdfunding round pitch deck, Wombat said next year it will continue to build new products, premium subscriptions and expand into Europe, while in Year 3 it will aim to launch new products and further grow internationally.

Wombat is now available on the iOS App Store and Android.
