Two senior appointments for the upstart digital escrow provider.
Shieldpay, a London-based digital escrow payments provider which holds funds during a transaction, has made two senior appointments to its board, including the founder of ClearBank.
Nick Ogden will be advising Shieldpay as an independent non-executive director, along with former Citi EMEA CEO Jim Cowles.
Ogden, who previously co-founded payments giant WorldPay, is also a director of ClearBank and a non-executive director of Funding Options.
“I’ve been following Shieldpay’s development closely over the last couple of years, from its partnership with Visa to the strides it has made in the mortgage market,” said Ogden.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time to join the team with some highly innovative initiatives on the horizon. Driving the business forward will be a key focus of mine as we enter the next phase of growth.”
Shieldpay was founded in 2016 by Jerome Gudgeon, Peter Janes and Tom Clementson, and was an alumni of the 2017 Barclays Accelerator Programme.
As well as holding funds in digital escrow, the service also verifies the identity of both payer and payee, and only releases funds when both parties are in agreement.
“Strengthening our senior team is key to driving growth and we’re incredibly honoured to welcome both Nick and Jim to the board,” said Janes.
“Their previous experience will prove invaluable to Shieldpay as we broaden our activity in the UK, US and further afield.”
