Deloitte consultant Sheree Atcheson will join Monzo on 4 November, as Monzo looks to take lead on workforce diversity across fintech industry.
Monzo has hired its first-ever Head of Diversity and Inclusion, as it looks to take a lead on workforce diversity across the fintech industry.
Deloitte consultant Sheree Atcheson will join Monzo on 4 November as Head of Diversity and Inclusion.
Atcheson will be tasked with driving the digital bank’s diversity efforts and shaping the HR policy for Monzo's 1,300 plus employees.
As of 2018, 40 per cent of Monzo's staff were women.
The news was first reported by Sifted, which said the Northern Irish consultant will be joining in the full-time role, after announcing her exit from Deloitte.
Atcheson said: “I’m really excited to have joined Monzo as Head of Diversity and Inclusion. It’s such a big responsibility and in my opinion it’s not about making a small change in the numbers here, but working to make a big impact that influences the greater business community."
"My career has been dedicated to creating truly inclusive work environments because I care about ensuring everyone in every workplace can take advantage of all the opportunities on offer. Being a leader in this space is a privilege & I will continue to use that privilege to ensure all humans are able to benefit & reach their full career potential."
"Monzo is already doing great things to make its culture and leadership more diverse and inclusive, but we could always be doing more, and I’m thrilled to be leading that mission, making the industry of tomorrow better than the one which exists today."
The appointment is the latest example of a UK fintech luring in talent from the traditional world of finance. Starling and Curve have also appointed heavy hitters from the corporate world recently.
According to LinkedIn, Atcheson spent three years as Consulting Inclusion Lead at Deloitte, where she managed and lead the inclusion strategy across Deloitte's UK consulting practice.
Atcheson is also the founder of the organisation I Am Lanka, which highlights Sri Lanka's local and global role models.
She is also an ambassador at the organisation Women Who Code and has been a blogger at Huffington Post and Forbes.
Atcheson will report to Tara Mansfield, Head of People at Monzo.
