Four of the coolest Canadian fintech startups took part in AltFi’s Toronto Pitch Off Competition last week.
Rental guarantee provider SingleKey beat the competition at AltFi’s Toronto Summit last week to win the event's Fintech Pitch Off Competition.
Four of Toronto’s hottest young fintech startups took part in the competition, each vying for the audience’s votes.
SingleKey’s CEO and Founder Viler Lika told attendees how the startup’s service can credit check potential tenants, and then provide a 12-month rental guarantee and damage protection for landlords.
Over the last 18 months SingleKey has sold over 1,000 rental guarantees to landlords and provided over 5,000 credit checks on tenants.
"Taking part in the AltFi Pitch Off Competition was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to pitch along-side some of the top Toronto Fintech companies as well as get some great exposure to an audience of industry executives, investors and other entrepreneurs - we made some great connections at the event," Lika told AltFi.
Lika, formerly of TD and CapitalOne, told audiences at AltFi Toronto that the startup is currently pacing at C$5,000 of monthly revenue, and is seeking a C$500,000 seed round in order to accelerate the business over the next two years.
Of the three other startups in the running was Samir Issa, CEO and Founder of MoneyMate, a startup focused on lending to the under-banked and helping them to borrow small sums while boosting their credit.
Also pitching was Ben Su, Head of Growth and Co-Founder of computer vision group AIH Technology, and Sandeep Todi, Chief Business Officer and Co-Founder of SME business payments business Remitr.
Jared Lindzon, writer for Fast Company and The Globe and Mail, kindly moderated the competition.
