German SME lending platform Creditshelf is “deepening its strategic cooperation with Commerzbank, in an expansion of its funding of the banking giant’s customers.

Creditshelf and Commerzbank have been dance partners since 2019, helping arrange loans for German SMEs with the former acquiring peer-to-peer business lender Main Funders, owned by Commerzbank in the same year.

The bank was also book-runner and sole agent for Creditshelf’s IPO in 2018.

The new extension of the partnership between Creditshelf and Commerzbank will see clients from Commerzbank’s Private and Small-Business Customers business, which serves self-employed and freelancers, as well as smaller SMEs now able to Creditshelf’s finance solutions.

Creditshelf’s corporate clients will also be able to benefit from Commerzbank’s product offering in future.

Daniel Bartsch, one of Creditshelf’s founding partners says we are starting the transition towards a modular, digital banking ecosystem.

”This decision shows that Commerzbank is taking a highly visionary approach in this area.”
