Channel 4 Ventures has exchanged airtime for equity in Clim8, with the fintech's ad due to run later on in 2021.
Green fintechs continue to make their mark on the world of finance and beyond.
Clim8, the fintech that allows investors to make a positive impact on climate change, has today secured a £2m investment from Channel 4 Ventures, the UK’s largest “media for equity” fund.
Channel 4 Ventures exchanges airtime instead of cash to help brands put their company on the map, with Clim8’s own ad due to hit the small screen later on this year.
“Purpose is at the heart of Channel 4’s vision so we’re delighted to invest in this ambitious sustainable purpose-led business through our innovative media-for-equity model,” Vinay Solanki, head of Channel 4 Ventures, said.
“Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and very important to our core young audience so we’re looking forward to supporting Clim8 to help them to achieve their potential of becoming a leading provider of sustainable investments in the UK using our powerful marketing platform.”
Clim8’s latest raise comes after the sustainable fintech closed a £5m funding round in 2020 and officially launched its app earlier this year.
“Sustainable investment represents one of the most powerful ways in which we can all make a positive impact on climate change,” Duncan Grierson, founder and CEO of Clim8 Invest, said.
“And we can do so without compromising on returns. With Channel 4 coming onboard as an investor, we have the opportunity to reach a huge audience and achieve our goal.”
Launched in March 2021, Clim8 offers investment products for retail clients, such as ISAs and a General Investment Account, which are focused on tackling the climate crisis and bringing about real, actionable change.
Thousands of users have already signed up to use the eco-friendly investment app, with customers investing as little as £25 all the way up to £97,000.
