Crypto exchange Luno has announced the hiring of Thomas Tudehope who come in as Luno's Global Head of Policy, after a lengthy stint at Revolut.

Tudehope will be tasked with developing Luno's policy and regulation teams, cementing the crypto exchange’s relationships with key regulators and government officials as it looks to grow the scope of its regulatory framework.

Previously, Tudehope spent three years at the digital payment platform Revolut as their head of public affairs and has also acted as senior advisor to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

"My task at Luno will be to bridge the gap between the cryptocurrency industry and its regulators," said Tudehope.

In response to Tudehop's appointment, chief executive officer Marcus Swanepoel has doubled down on the firm's commitment to laying the groundwork for effective regulatory frameworks that "work for everyone."

The news comes following Luno's successful digital asset service provider license (DASP) registration with France's financial regulator in May.

By being granted a DASP license, Luno will be able to offer its custodial and crypto purchasing services to its French customers.

At present, no crypto company has managed to full license from the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

Since being established in 2013, Luno has grown its customer base to over 10 million, servicing 40 countries across the US, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Luno is part of Digital Currency Group, the owners of CoinDesk and Circle, and is currently seeking a license with the UK's FCA.
