Susie Aliker to step down as CEO of green bank Tandem

Lender reveals succession plan including CEO designate Alex Mollart.

After 18 months in the top job at Tandem Bank, CEO Susie Aliker has announced her intention to step down in the coming months.

Tandem’s board yesterday afternoon announced a succession plan that will see Deputy CEO Alex Mollart become chief executive designate, subject to regulatory approval.

Aliker joined Tandem in May 2021 after the bank acquired green consumer lender Allium Money in late 2020 and co-founder Ricky Knox left the business.

Under her leadership, Tandem has continued its pivot from a consumer credit card offering into a green lender with mortgages and home improvement loans.

This January Aliker oversaw the acquisition of lender Oplo—where Mollart was CEO and founder—and its £1.2bn loanbook of secured and unsecured consumer loans.

“It has been an exciting and successful journey leading Tandem, using my banking and finance experience to build a profitable fintech business, and now is the right time for me to do something different,” said Aliker, who didn’t disclose exactly what her next steps will be.

“I leave the bank with a strong leadership team, a profitable and growing business, and a clear and differentiated strategy which will continue to benefit our customers and the planet”.

Over the coming months, Aliker will work with Mollart to support the handover and ensure a smooth leadership transition.

This week's announcement concludes a period of significant change at the top of Tandem Bank with Paul Pester, a former non-executive director of Oplo, taking over as chair designate in June.
