Gary is Nationwide’s Chief Information Officer, and leads the Society’s Technology Strategy, Architecture, Engineering, Change Delivery and Operations capabilities. He joined the Society as Chief Technology Officer in January 2018, following a year on secondment in that role.
Prior to joining the Society Gary spent the majority of his career in technology consulting, working for Accenture, PwC, IBM and EY in the UK, Europe and the USA. He has designed and delivered some of the largest and most complex technology solutions in use today, was a published author on Internet and Web Technologies, including Cloud Computing, and a trusted advisor to a number of CIOs and CTOs. He has also led Technology Strategy and Architecture teams in Barclays, HBoS and Lloyds Banking Group, and worked closely with a number of start-ups and Challenger Banks.
Gary has a first class honours degree in Computer Science. He lives in Cheshire with his wife and daughter and their family dog, and spends his spare time on DIY, watching movies, and desperately trying to remain fit.
