Chief Executive

Yasser commenced as Chief Executive of the Australian Investment Council (formerly AVCAL) in November 2013. He is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the organisation’s work in representing the private capital investment industry in Australia. Yasser works closely with the Council’s 200 member firms, as well as other key stakeholders within the financial services and superannuation sector, to engage with the federal government on key policy reforms that will help to drive business competitiveness and productivity for the long-term prosperity of the Australian economy. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a business adviser and public policy expert. Prior to joining the Australian Investment Council, Yasser was a senior executive at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and has held positions with the Treasury Department, PwC, Rio Tinto and Frasers Property Group. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University and a Master of Taxation Law from the University of New South Wales
